Our mission
The mission of YCAC Bay Area is to help change the Bay Area into a cleaner and greener place! We will do this by not only planning fun, eco-friendly events, but also educating our communities on what they can do to help.
What is YCAC Bay Area?
YCAC Bay Area is a chapter of the youth-led environmental organization, YCAC. YCAC stands for Youth Climate Action Coalition. Here at YCAC Bay Area, we encourage students from all around the Bay Area to join the fight, to help and slow down climate change and advocate for climate justice.

Get involved by joining our discord, where you will find lots of new people all with a common passion, advocating for environmental justice! Join now by signing up, and if you would like to help out in more ways, apply for our committee! If you are super committed, feel free to apply to be on the board of directors. Keep in mind that in order to be considered for the board of directors, you must be on a committee first. Below is a description for each group.
General Members: Members who have signed up for our chapter.
Committee Members: As a committee member, you will be assigned more work (you will also earn more volunteer hours!)
There are 5 committees within our chapter, each with their own responsibilities:
Project Committee: You are responsible for planning projects for our chapter. We will plan several different projects with a general topic based on helping the SF Bay Area become a cleaner and greener place. You will also be in charge of our outreach and partnerships. Using connections with any partnerships could help us make an even bigger impact. You should be a good event planner and be capable of communicating with others outside of our chapter.Research Committee: You will be in charge of doing the research for our social media posts. You should be active on our discord and be able to get lots of research in! We will use the research you collect for several different social media posts, so make sure your research is fact-checked and unbiased. You should be able to get an appropriate amount of research in by a certain due date. You may also choose to write articles on current environmental issues, and we will upload them to our website (coming soon!!!)Graphic Design Committee: You are in charge of transforming the research the research committee researched into either an infographic or a social media post! You will also design any flyers, banners, and anything else that includes graphic designing. You will need to be active on discord and be able to get your graphics in at a certain due date. You will also design the theme and overall layout of our website! You will be given a color palette and theme, and you are expected to follow the theme when making our Instagram posts. If you are designing something other than Instagram posts, you may choose different fonts to include.Social Media Committee: You are responsible for making social media posts on our YCAC Bay Area account. You should be familiar with how to post Instagram posts, guides, reels, and Tiktoks! You should also have basic marketing experience, and know how to work Instagram insights. You are expected to be active on our discord and make daily conversations with members on our server.Technology Committee: You are responsible for making our website and updating it daily. You are expected to upload all articles to the website. You should also know how to use Wix and have a problem solving mind/attitude. You should be good with technology and know how to fix basic website issues. You will also be moderating our discord.
Board of Directors: We will also have a board of directors! The board of directors is made up of a director from each committee. The board of directors should all be very active on our discord. The board of directors are in charge of checking and approving posts, research, etc, made within our committee. In order to apply to be on the board of directors, you must first apply to be a committee member. You should have good leadership skills as well as a growth mindset.
